The horror! The horror!

You know the drill. Parent brings child to mall. Parent pays money, puts child in lap of complete stranger. Child goes hysterical. Someone snaps a picture. It's a beautiful thing, really.

The LA Times is currently hosting contributed photos of Santa Claus sittings gone horribly wrong in a feature called "Scared of Santa". If you have a moment today, check it out here.

Among the wonders you'll see is my current favorite (credit one Janet Henderson, "mother" of Graham):

Somebody save him! Who started this bizarre American tradition anyway? Enjoy!

that truly is freaky...i never enjoyed it as a kid. it was always hard to balance on a stranger's knees. i also think that santas with real beards are much better than the fake bearded ones.

for the past 28 years, my grandpa has gone and gotten his picture taken with santa and sent the picture to me.
most years it goes ok, but there are a few where the santas look pretty horrified.
karma is great.

I noticed that Santa at Briarwood last week looked about ready to collapse. Good thing Washtenaw county has the highest density of AED in the nation!
