Sliver

Too many hours in front of a laptop with headphones.

I saw a sliver of the sky around the corner of the coffee shop and surmised that the sunset had been brilliant. A warm grapefruit hue lingered at the horizon and faded into blue higher up. Buses ran nearby, and I imagined them taking people home to eat roast beef dinners. But in front of me were the cold pixels of a scientific manuscript.
